Team Day Nursery needs your help

Day Nursery staff competing in the Indiana Sports Corp Corporate Challenge 2012We had so much fun last year, we’re going to do it again! Team Day Nursery will be competing again next month in the Indiana Sports Corp’s Corporate Challenge. The Corporate Challenge is a fun-filled community event that emphasizes healthy lifestyles and company camaraderie.  Leading up to the September 21 & 28 competition, Team Day Nursery will have a chance to earn points by participating in the Community & Compassion Events. One of the ways you can help us  earn team points is to donate sports equipment (trust us…we need all the help earning team points that we can get!!)

The program collects new and gently-used donated sports equipment from manufacturers, retailers, institutions, events and individuals, and distributes it to not-for-profit, youth-serving organizations, sports leagues and sports clubs.

Geared For Health accepts:

– yard games (badminton, croquet, bocce ball)
– playground and street sports equipment (rollerblades, roller skates, street hockey gear, Frisbees, jump ropes)

Too Cute Tuesday: Splash Day at Day Nursery Ruth A. Lilly Center

While today’s a bit cloudy, the children at the Day Nursery Ruth A. Lilly Center on Central Avenue have had many beautiful days this month to enjoy their newly remodeled playground.  In their early years, children explore the world around them by using all their senses (touching, tasting, listening, smelling, and looking) and splash day offers many opportunities to explore and pretend.

These “Too Cute Tuesday” pictures feature a recent playground splash day on the playground designed just for infants and toddlers.

Day Nursery Family Night at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

Day Nursery families gathered at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis tonight to take advantage of Target Free Family Night  and help bid farewell to the Super Heroes exhibit which is closing up this weekend.  While most of the children were quite focused on getting into the fun as soon as possible after arriving, we were able to slow a few families down to snap these pictures.  Thanks to Patty Fisher and the management team in each Day Nursery Center for assembling the meals to go, so the families could get fueled up before exploring the museum.  Check out the picturesIMG_2221IMG_2219 IMG_2223 IMG_2224 IMG_2225 IMG_2226 IMG_2227 IMG_2231 IMG_2233 IMG_2236 IMG_2238 IMG_2241 IMG_2242 IMG_2244 IMG_2246 IMG_2247 IMG_2248 IMG_2249 IMG_2252 IMG_2253 IMG_2255 IMG_2256

Play helps toddler understand how the world works

Indiana’s Academic Standards for Young Children tell us that early geometry concepts involve position and movement of self and items. To a child, this is a step in understanding how the world works.    Benjamin went around his classroom at the Day Nursery IU Health Center recently gathering items to put into his plastic jar, pushed the baby doll repeatedly to get it to fit inside the jar, even attempting to put the lid on top when he felt the baby was inside enough. Benjamin spent about 20 minutes on this play process.
