Too Cute Tuesday: Splash Day at Day Nursery Ruth A. Lilly Center

While today’s a bit cloudy, the children at the Day Nursery Ruth A. Lilly Center on Central Avenue have had many beautiful days this month to enjoy their newly remodeled playground.  In their early years, children explore the world around them by using all their senses (touching, tasting, listening, smelling, and looking) and splash day offers many opportunities to explore and pretend.

Day Nursery Indianapolis produces pint-sized Opening Ceremony

When our teachers build their weekly curriculum, they make sure it has a balance of topics their students are currently interested in mixed with lessons built around what is happening in their world.  For the past week, the teachers at the Day Nursery Northwest Center in Pike Township have been letting their students explore the Olympics through music, art, literature and videos of past competitions.  This morning all the children gathered out in the hallway to watch a hand-made, pint-size  Olympic torch pass by their classroom and to show the colors of their “country.” Later next week, there will be friendly competition between the classrooms.  Here are some pictures from today’s pageantry.

If you know someone who has been wondering what a great early childhood learning experience looks like, invite them to attend the Day Nursery Open House September 7-10 because our doors will be wide open!  Many families are looking for full day preschool and child care during this back to school time and we want to encourage everyone to explore Day Nursery and learn more about the wonderful learning that goes on here every day.
