More fashion show fun

Thanks to all the volunteers from the Day Nursery Auxiliary for making our October 1 fashion show so much fun.  While my earlier post featured pictures of our models from The Helen Wells Agency wearing fashions from The Secret Ingredient, Mary and Martha’s Exceedingly Chic Boutique and Nikki Blaine Couture, today’s pictures from Friday feature the real stars of the show: our supporters!  Thanks to all who attended, shopped the silent auction and bought raffle tickets!

Day Nursery Auxiliary Fashion Show

Sorry if you were trying to get in touch with me today and couldn’t find me. I was out taking pictures and catching up with many of our supporters at the annual Day Nursery Auxiliary Style Show and Luncheon at Oak Hill Mansion in Carmel.  This event is the major fundraiser for the Auxiliary, whose mission, since 1938 has been to support the Day Nursery Association through service and fundraising.  This year’s event was co-chaired by Jenny Rosebrock and Marianne Stout. The fashions were provided by Lilly’s Boutique of Zionsville, Day Furs and Mary & Martha’s Exceedingly Chic Boutique of Carmel.   Day Nursery Auxiliary members who modeled were joined by a special guest Indianapolis First Lady Winnie Ballard, who also served as honorary chair. Leslie Olsen of WISH TV 8 returned this year as the M.C. I had a special guest at my table, Danielle Smith, who attended the Day Nursery Ruth A. Lilly Center on Central Avenue.  She shared her memories of Day Nursery and talked about how her early discoveries of color and art at Day Nursery lead her on a career that lead to her current position teaching fashion design at the  Art Institute of Indianapolis.  Here are a few pictures from today. I will be working on posting additional pictures on the Day Nursery Auxiliary blog too.  If you are interested in helping to support Day Nursery through volunteering for the Auxiliary, take a moment to check out their information.

Each year the Day Nursery Auxiliary holds a luncheon and style show to raise money to support activities in the Day Nursery centers.  This year’s event, which was held October 3 at the beautiful Oak Hill Mansion in Carmel attracted 270 supporters.  The Day Nursery Auxiliary is 70 years old this year so the event took on a birthday theme.  Each table had a colorful birthday cake centerpiece decorated by some very talented Auxiliary members.  Fashions from Secret Ingredient, Lilly’s Boutique Gallery, The Oxford Shop, Escapades Boutique and Day Furs were modeled by Auxiliary members.  Leslie Olsen of WISH-TV8 was the honorary chairperson.  Jenny Rosebrock, Auxiliary president presented a check for $25,000 to Day Nursery Executive Director Carolyn Dederer.  Since 1938, the Auxiliary has supported Day Nursery by raising funds as well as providing assistance in the centers.  Current projects include helping with school picture days, vision screenings and reading to the children.

This year’s Day Nursery Auxiliary Style show received generous support from these corporate sponsors: Kirr Marbach & Co., Lincoln Financial Group, Baker & Daniels, Benefit Associates, Ernst & Young; ADP; Appnuity; Clarian Health Partners, Gregory & Appel and Indiana Business Equipment.  We thank them for their support of the event and the children of Day Nursery.
